America's Soldiers, proud members of the world's most powerful military, are bound together by a common creed -The Warrior Ethos - which applies to every task they undertake and every mission they set out to accomplish. Consisting of just twenty-three words, this creed captures the warrior spirit that has guaranteed America's military dominance for over two-hundred years. It reads as follows:

I will never leave a fallen comrade

From Valley Forge to the desert sands of Iraq, America's Soldiers have stood and fought for freedom, responding to the call of duty with unmatched strength during our nation's greatest hours of need.

This coin honors the 231st birthday of the United States Army and pays tribute to every American Soldier who lives by the words of the Warrior Ethos each day. Minted in the shape of a dog tag, this distinctive coin contains the detailed footprint of a Soldier's boot, enameled in white against a black field behind the bolded words "Call To Duty," also enameled in white. To the left of these words is the U.S. Army emblem, enameled in regulation gold, white, and green. The reverse contains the text of the Warrior Ethos opposite an unfurled American flag, enameled in the national colors.
