Working on the ground and in the air, Air Crew personnel ensure that all Coast Guard aircraft operate to their maximum potential. These highly trained individuals maintain, troubleshoot, and repair vital communication systems and navigation instrument before, during, and after flight, serve as in-flight technicians and intelligence specialists, and perform emergency safety procedures when necessary. Essential to the success of search and rescue, law enforcement, and strategic defense operations, Air Crew members enable the Coast Guard to complete its mission throughout the world. 

This coin is dedicated to the advanced skill and boundless courage of all those serve as Air Crew personnel in the U.S. Coast Guard. Featured on the obverse is a detailed rendering of the insignia worn by Coast Guard Air Crew personnel. Depicted on the reverse is the tri-color racing stripe found on all Coast Guard aircraft and vessels. Embedded in the design is the official Coast Guard emblem, featuring a disk inscribed with the service's founding date and the shield of the Coat of Arms of the United States, superimposed against a pair of crossed anchors.
