Highly trained in maritime law enforcement tactics, oceanography, marine safety, and hazardous material response, Marine Science Technicians ensure the safe transport of material goods in and around the nation's waterways. Their duties include conducting harbor and port patrols and inspections, boarding vessels to ensure compliance with environmental protection and maritime safety standards, and assisting environmental health experts and other scientists in oceanographic research efforts.
