Established in 1941, the Coast Guard Reserve trains and prepares sailors to support the nation's elite maritime security force.

Serving as vital members of the Coast Guard team, Reservists perform operations in all mission areas in times of peace and war. Strengthening America's domestic security, these courageous and skilled warriors protect the nation's ports, coastlines, and interior waterways from every threat. As proud members of America's military, they also stand ready at all times to deploy in defense of freedom overseas. Demonstrating exceptional bravery and dedication to duty, these sailors play a critical role in ensuring that the Coast Guard remains mission ready and fully prepared to meet any challenge.
