Civil Air Patrol/Eagle/Engravable
Formed just days before the infamous Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) was a vital part of America's aerial arsenal throughout World
War II.
Comprised entirely of volunteers with little or no military training, the first pilots of the CAP proved extremely effective in performing coastal patrol missions and engaging in anti-submarine warfare. Today, the Civil Air Patrol is the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force and primarily conducts non-combat search and rescue and reconnaissance missions.
This coin salutes the enduring service of the Civil Air Patrol as it continues to aid in America's air defense. Featured on the reverse above a swooping eagle design is an area suitable for engraving.
This coin is struck in MerlinGold®, a proprietary brass alloy that simulates the look and feel of gold. Each coin comes sealed in an airtight Lucite capsule and packaged with a descriptive header card that chronicles the unique contributions of the Civil Air Patrol to America's national security.
