U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo is a United States Navy naval base, in Sasebo, Japan, on the island of Ky%u016Bsh%u016B. It provides facilities for the logistic support of forward-deployed units and visiting operating forces of the US Pacific Fleet and designated tenant activities.

Sasebo has been an important naval base since 1883, when the tiny fishing village came to form a base for the Imperial Japanese Navy. In September of 1945, the U.S. Marine Corps' Fifth Division landed at Sasebo, and in June 1946, U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo was established. During the Korean and Vietnam wars, this base provided instrumental support. Today, the base continues its fine tradition in support of the Naval operations in the Pacific.

This brass coin salutes the efforts of all Naval personnel past and present who serve at Sasebo. The obverse carries the emblem of the base imbued in permanent and durable enamel, while the reverse carries the classic emblem of the U.S. Navy.
