He Did Fly - First Solo Flight Silver | ||||||||||||||
|
From the dawn of recorded history, man has dreamed of defying gravity, seeking in vain for ages to slip the bonds of earth to soar through the skies with the ease of one of Heaven's angels. Then, in 1903, building on centuries of trial and error, two brave and brilliant men turned this dream into a magnificent reality, successfully completing the first-ever controlled flight over the windswept bluffs of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Embodying the same spirit of adventure that guided the Wright Brothers in their pioneering efforts more than a century ago, the undaunted aviators who skillfully defy gravity in their first solo flight inspire us all. This coin salutes the outstanding achievement of those pilots who successfully complete their first solo flight. The obverse depicts a winged cherub and features the following verse from the Book of Psalms: "He rode upon a cherub and did fly; yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind." Emblazoned in bolded characters on the coin's reverse are the words: "First Solo Flight." The reverse contains ample space for engraving the new pilot's name, as well as the date of his/her remarkable achievement. Minted in 2.25 Troy ounces of .999 silver, each piece comes sealed in a tarnish-resistant Lucite capsule and mounted in a museum-quality leatherette presentation box, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Engraving is easy and inexpensive. Just type in your message below.
