Model A Coin Description
The coin is minted in a brass alloy and given an antique bronze finish and is provided in a special sleeve. This custom printed and die cut sleeve also acts as a display card. The medallion is encased in a protective plastic capsule to preserve it's lustrous finish.
1903 Model A
In 1903 Ford Motor Company unveiled their first production vehicle to the public. The eight horsepower Model A was nothing more than a motorized buggy, but unlike most automobiles of the early era, the Model A had the unique distinction of bearing a host of largely hidden manufacturing features that would be the beginnings of the formidable Model T.
At the turn of the century, many companies were manufacturing horseless carriages. A vast majority of these companies focused on features such as furniture details, optional ornamentation, and finery that served the wealthy elite. Henry Ford, however, placed his focus on reliability, consistency in manufacturing, and ease of operation. While only 1700 Model A's were made in total, the production methods learned and profits from those sales formed the solid foundation Henry Ford needed to establish his young company. Although often overlooked in the shadow of the Model T, this 1250 pound forefather of modern production automobiles will forever stand as one of the most significant and seminal vehicles of the modern automotive era.
