Established in 1891 in northern Idaho's silver valley, Hecla Mining Company is one of America's oldest and largest producers of gold and silver.
Operating mines throughout North and South America for well over a century, Hecla has earned an international reputation for its innovative mining and exploration efforts and is widely regarded as one of the world's premier producers of precious metals.
Northwest Territorial Mint was commissioned by the Hecla Mining Company to design and create the richly detailed medallion featured here. The obverse bears the Hecla trademark above the words: "A Rich Heritage in Silver and Gold." The montage on the coin's reverse symbolizes Hecla's long heritage as one of the world's top mining companies.
Minted in one Troy ounce of .999 pure silver and selectively plated in 24-karat gold, each piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and comes mounted in a museum-quality leatherette presentation box, featuring the official Hecla emblem embossed in gold on the interior of the lid.
