Both the obverse and reverse contain the fouled anchor design. Incorporated in this design on the obverse is the Navy's official seal. The reverse contains the Colonial-era seal of the U.S. Navy.

Minted in a brass alloy, this coin contains colorful enamel accents on both sides. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card that underscores the Navy's proud tradition.
