Fearsome predators, Rattlesnakes use their sharp fangs and exceptional speed to paralyze their unsuspecting prey.
Possessing a small triangular head and a stout body, these cold-blooded carnivores can grow to be as long as five feet. Typically preying on small rodents, Rattlesnakes favor open grasslands, but are also found in conifer forest and other wooded areas. They are non-migratory and have a limited range, usually traveling no more than seven miles from their habitat. Easily identified by the rattle that extends from their tails, Rattlesnakes are found in large numbers throughout the American West.
This coin features a detailed depiction of a Rattlesnake on its obverse. Bordered by a classic wreath design, the reverse contains a space for engraving.
