America's fifth oldest National Park, Mount Rainier National Park was officially established on March 2, 1899 by President William McKinley.

Known for its extraordinarily diverse landscape and enthralling scenic beauty, this expansive park is comprised of 235, 625 acres (97% of which is designated as Wilderness) and includes wonderful examples of pristine old-growth forests, dense glaciers, lush sub-alpine meadows, deep canyons, and rushing waterfalls.

It's best known attraction, however, is the massive mountain for which the park is named. Standing at 14, 410 feet above sea level, Mt. Rainier is the largest mountain in Washington State and one of the tallest peaks in the entire Cascade Range.

This coin celebrates the inspiring beauty and rich heritage of Mt. Rainier National Park.  The obverse contains a rendering of Mt. Rainer, the stunning centerpiece of this national treasure. The reverse depicts just a few of the park's many attractions, including the world renowned Paradise Lodge, which dates back to 1917.

This intricately designed commemorative coin is minted in a brass alloy and coated with an antique bronze finish. Each coin comes encased in plastic and mounted in a descriptive folding display card, filled with detailed information about Mt. Rainier National Park.
