The obverse contains the official shoulder sleeve insignia of U.S. Army Europe, which is comprised of a double-handled sword surrounded by flames, set against a blue field and positioned below the arc of a rainbow. The reverse contains U.S. Army Europe's Distinctive Unit Insignia, which depicts a vertically positioned sword with a gold hilt and white blade above a banner that reads: "Sword of Freedom."
