Coin PackagingMedical Specialist Corps
U.S. Army

Officially established in 1947, the Army Medical Specialist Corps has a long and distinguished record of providing exceptional rehabilitative care for America's soldiers.

The modern Medical Specialist Corps, comprised entirely of commissioned officers, traces its origins back to World War I, when a group of highly trained medical technicians served the Army as civilian volunteers both in the U.S. and throughout Europe. Today, the Medical Specialist Corps is comprised of clinical dieticians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and physician's assistants. In addition to providing direct care, these officers assist commanders in implementing health promotion campaigns, initiate and conduct clinical research studies, and develop training and education programs designed to improve the standard of medical care throughout the U.S. Army.

This coin pays tribute to the proud heritage of the Army Medical Specialist Corps and salutes the skill of all those who help it achieve its mission. The obverse contains the Medical Specialist Corps insignia. The reverse bears the seal of the U.S. Army.

Minted in a brass alloy and finished in antique bronze, this coin is imbued with brightly colored enamel on both sides. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card that describes the mission and history of the U.S. Army.
