As the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force since 1947, the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) continues to play a vital role in the nation’s air defense. Originally established just days before the infamous Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, pilots in the CAP served with distinction throughout World War II.

Today, the Civil Air Patrol - which maintains a fleet of 550 single-engine aircraft - is uniquely positioned to provide reconnaissance and liaison support for homeland security initiatives. In a demonstration of its intelligence gathering capability, the CAP provided the first aerial pictures of ground zero following the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.

This sturdy lockback knife, featuring a cutlery-grade, stainless steel blade and a die-struck handle, salutes the outstanding national service provided by the members of the Civil Air Patrol for more than half a century. The antique bronze handle contains a masterful montage symbolizing the versatility and long history of service provided by America's all-volunteer Civil Air Patrol and includes a banner detailed with the words "Semper Vigilans" (Always Vigilant) - the official Civil Air Patrol motto. The reverse contains both the official CAP seal and emblem. Each Civil Air Patrol lockback knife comes displayed in a custom-fit, museum-quality leatherette presentation box.
