United States European Command (EUCOM) is the only regional combatant command with a forward deployed headquarters located abroad.

Headquarters U.S. European Command (HQ USEUCOM) was officially established on August 1, 1952 in an attempt to create a unified stabilizing force to counter the expansion of credible threats in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Northern Africa. Employing elements from all armed forces braches of the U.S. Military and working in concert with America's allies throughout the world, Headquarters USEUCOM directs the deployment of all military assets within its massive area of responsibility.
