Coin PackagingCharleston AFB "Team Charleston"

Delivering large equipment, supplies and troops anywhere in the world day or night with its massive C-17 Globemaster III and C-141 transport aircraft, Charleston AFB plays an essential role in the Air Force's ability to defend the United States and its global interests. First used by the Army Air Force within days of entering World War II, this crucial facility was named Charleston Air Force Base in 1953. Situated on 3,772 acres of land in the historic Lowcountry, it is home to 6,000 military and civilian personnel in support of the 437th Airlift Wing.

This coin is splash minted in a proprietary brass alloy and features exacting detail. The obverse features C-141 planes in the air, while the reverse has the classic Hap Arnold wings accented with durable enamel accents. This coin is dedicated to the men and women of Charleston AFB, who make it possible to fly and fight, no matter how far away the arena might be and how much needs to be delivered there.
