Operating as a vital unit within Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan, Station Milwaukee responsibilities include marine law enforcement, boating safety, and security for special marine events, as well as a primary mission of search and rescue. Station Milwaukee has been in service since 1876. Stationed at its namesake Milwaukee, the unit's area of responsibility covers Lake Michigan from Port Washington, WI, to Wind Point, WI, to include half of Lake Michigan between those two points. Station Milwaukee runs an average of 120 SAR cases each year, and conducts 350 Maritime Law Enforcement Boarding's during the same period.
