The obverse depicts a winged cherub and features the following verse from the Book of Psalms: "He rode upon a cherub and did fly; yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind." Emblazoned in bolded characters on the coin's reverse are the words: "First Solo Flight." The reverse contains ample space for engraving the new pilot's name, as well as the date of his/her remarkable achievement.
