Containing one Troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver, the American Eagle Silver Proof is admired for the shimmering finish and U.S. Mint-certified authenticity that makes it a treasure for investors and collectors alike.
Available by year starting in 1986, the exquisite detail and breathtaking craftsmanship of the American Eagle Silver Proof coin makes it a stunning gift. Commemorate a birthday, graduation, anniversary, wedding or other special event in someone’s life with this much admired coin.
A rigorous minting process sets proof-struck coins apart from non-proof bullion. The American Eagle Silver Proof is minted with special dies that strike a highly polished coin blank several times, resulting in a highly reflective, mirror-like finish.
The softly-frosted texture of the “Walking Liberty” image makes it appear to float above the field of the coin. Each American Eagle Silver Proof coin is hand-inspected, sealed in a capsule and comes in a plush presentation box with a certificate of authenticity from the U.S. Mint.
First minted by the U.S. Mint in 1986, the American Eagle Silver Proof coin proudly displays the “Walking Liberty” design originally created by Adolph Weinman for the 1916 U.S. half dollar. The reverse bears the heraldic eagle and shield of the Great Seal of the United States. Prized for its gorgeously rendered design, the American Eagle Silver Proof coin is a highly-desired part of any collection or portfolio. American Silver Eagle Proofs were minted at the San Francisco facility from 1986-1992, and included the "S" mint mark. From 1993 through 2000, they were minted in Philadelphia and held the "P" mint mark. Since 2001, American Silver Eagle Proofs have been minted in West Point and bear the "W" mint mark.
American Eagle Silver Proof coins are only available in the one-ounce size. Prices vary according to the minting year. Coins other than these stated are special edition and not included.
