Lewis and Clark National Park -- Fort Clatsop
Commemorate your visit to Lewis and Clark National Park with this die-struck medallion created by master artisans. Great as a gift, to celebrate a trip or to just hold as a lasting reminder of your experience in America’s great outdoors, this splash-minted National Parks medallion will be a timeless keepsake that you will enjoy forever.
Spread across 12 parks on a 40-mile stretch through southern Washington and northern Oregon, Lewis and Clark National park captures the dramatic landscape of the Pacific Northwest. Visitors witness, much as the intrepid adventurers Meriwether Lewis & William Clark did, the wide mouth of the Columbia River, the solitary beaches along Cape Disappointment and the evergreen trees that cover the land.
The medallion’s obverse shows a picture of the arrival of the famed Lewis Clark expedition onto the Pacific Coast. The reverse shows the original floor plan for Ft. Clatsop, one of the frontier outposts preserved in the parks. Minted in deep relief using a special "splash minting" process, this coin is struck in a brass alloy and given a beautiful lacquered finished.
