2004 Lewis and Clark Coin and Pouch Set
2004 US MINT COMMEMORATIVE LEWIS & CLARK PROOF DOLLAR AND POUCH SET
The US Mint honors the Lewis & Clark expedition as the first overland expedition undertaken by the United States to the Pacific coast and back with the issuance of this handsome US Mint Lewis & Clark Coin and Pouch Set.
Commissioned as a scientific and military expedition by United States President Thomas Jefferson to explore what had formerly been territory acquired in The Louisiana Purchase, the expedition departed Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 31, 1803, and arrived at the Pacific Ocean in December, 1805. This beautiful set honors the vision and courage of our nation’s builders, and will be a treasured possession.
Appropriately, this United States Mint commemorative set comes in a very attractive presentation box, textured with a map tracing the expedition’s route, and containing two memorable items: an authentic American Indian beaded pouch, complete with Certificate of Authenticity; and a 2004 proof United States silver dollar, also with Certificate of Authenticity, minted at the US Mint, Philadelphia. The proof dollar is mounted in an individual protective, rotatable blister for impressive presentation.
