US ARMY AVIATOR

The US Army Aviator Challenge Coin is inspired by the US Army Aviator Badge, awarded to those ‘warriors of the sky’ who have successfully completed all prescribed training and proficiency tests conducted by the US Army Aviation Center.  Once awarded, Aviators are qualified and dedicated as the fighting force for freedom wherever deployed, whether in peacetime or engaging in the destruction of enemy forces. The US Army Aviator Badge was approved by the US Army Chief of Staff on 27 July, 1950, and has been proudly worn by thousands of Army Aviators since that time.  It is a symbol of courage and honor, and the Aviator Challenge Coin commemorates this proud tradition.

Crafted in the same shape as the US Army Aviator Badge, this US Army Aviator Challenge Coin is oval and minted in rugged nickel alloy, brushed with an antique finish.  It is struck using special “splash” dies, which provide deep relief and excellent detail.  The obverse consists of the shield of the Coat of Arms of the United States on and over a pair of displayed Wings, which  represent the skills associated with aerial flight.  The shield of the Coat of Arms of the United States signifies loyalty and devotion to duty.  The reverse is a bold representation of the Great Seal of the United States.  This is a unique and handsome coin that you will carry with pride.
