U.S. Coast Guard Auxilary

The all-encompassing mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to add to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions. The mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary includes recreational boating safety, Coast Guard support, and maritime Homeland Security functions.

Since its founding in 1939, tens of thousands of men and women volunteers of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary have spent countless hours assisting the U.S. Coast Guard carry out its mission. Their efforts have no doubt saved many lives, and are best known for their boating safety classes and vessel safety checks.

The obverse of this brass antique with enamel coin features the official seal of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, with the motto “Semper Paratus,” which means “Always Ready.” The reverse carries a coastal image with Auxiliary members in a row boat. There is a space above for an engraving.
