Dubbed "America's Mountain," Pikes Peak has figured prominently in the history of the United States. Serving as the inspiration for the timeless anthem "America the Beautiful," it is truly a national treasure.

With its towering elevation of 14,110 feet, the mountain also poses a serious challenge to climbers of all skill levels. Boasting the greatest vertical gain of all the Colorado mountains above 14,000 feet, Pikes Peak tests the endurance and skill of those brave enough to make the ascent up its steep slopes.

This medallion is dedicated to the intrepid climbers who have persevered to master the mountain's difficult terrain. Minted in a brass alloy and coated with an antique bronze finish, the obverse replicates the design and detail of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Bench Mark that is located on the summit of Pikes Peak. The reverse contains a space for engraving.

Minted in solid bronze in the style of actual USGS bench marks (not the lesser-quality, simulated bench marks others make from lead and tin), this three-inch medallion comes in its own drawstring velour pouch accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
