AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL UNCIRCULATED
2011 GLACIER NATIONAL PARK QUARTER, DENVER
The Glacier National Park quarter is the second of the coins struck in 2011 as seventh overall issued in the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program. All design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Glacier National Park. The quarters were struck at the United States Mint at Denver, and each bears the “D” mint mark.
On the front of this beautiful coin is the 1932 portrait of George Washington, by John Flanagan, which has been restored to bring out subtle details and the beauty of the original model. The reverse features the northeast slope of Mt. Reynolds in the background, while a mountain goat occupies the foreground. Glacier National Park encompasses more than 1 million acres of protected forests, and its terrain is shaped by the remains of glaciers that passed through the area during the ice age approximately 10,000 years ago.
Obverse inscriptions are United States of America, Liberty, In God We Trust and Quarter Dollar. The reverse of this stunning quarter bears the inscriptions of Glacier, Montana, 2011 and E Pluribus Unum.
