Army - Air Force Colonel Rank

Sold in pairs.

A silver-colored spread eagle, made in pairs, right and left, talons of one foot grasping an olive branch, the other, a bundle of 13 arrows. The term evolved in the 16th century from the Spanish king, Ferdinand, who called the commander of his columns "cabo de colunela" which later became colonel in the French and British armies.  The current pronunciation of "kernel" was established by the British.  (Colonel may come from the Italian word colonello meaning little column, an officer commanding a 'column' of soldiers or may come from the word column, a column, or corona, a crown.) The head of the eagle is always worn facing forward.
