2012 America the Beautiful 3-Coin Set
Chaco Culture National Historical Park

The twelfth coin in the US Mint’s popular America the Beautiful quarters series, this 2012 Chaco Culture National Historical Park America the Beautiful three-coin set features the homelands of the native Pueblo, Hopi, and Navajo of the American Southwest, inhabitants of Chaco Canyon on the reverse of three quarters.

The set contains two uncirculated Chaco Culture National Historical Park quarters - one each from the Philadelphia US Mint and the Denver US Mint, as well as one proof-quality coin from the San Francisco US Mint. Proof-struck coins, commonly referred to as specimen-minted, are the most highly revered of all collectible coins. Coin aficionados devoutly pursue this elite class of coin because of its exceptional numismatic value and unmatched beauty.

Making an ideal gift item for fans of our national parks – especially Chaco Culture National Hiistorical Park – and for beginning coin collectors by displaying the same item from three mints sampled by uncirculated and proof, each set mounts the coins on a durable plastic card with a description and image of the national historical park and a Certificate of Authenticicty  on the back.

In all, there will be up to 56 specially designed numismatic offerings between 2010 and 2021.

Located in the Four Corners area of New Mexico, Chaco Culture became part of the National Park system on March 11, 1907. It was major cultural and economic center for the indigenous peoples of the American Southwest whose roads and trading network spanned a 40,000-square-mile swath of the continent. Its visitors are fascinated by its centuries-old multi-storied “great houses,” subterranean structures called “great kivas,” as well as petroglyphs and pictographs. These ancient people left stunning architecture aligned by astronomy and geometry that still awes today – so much so that the site was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
