Based in Key West, Florida, the latest Mohawk, WMEC-913, was launched in 1989 and has served the Coast Guard with excellence in various missions. Named for the Algonquin tribe of Iroquois who lived in the Mohawk Valley of New York, the US Coast Guard has had three Mohawk cutters in their fleet; the moniker dating back to 1902. This challenge coin will be proudly carried and displayed by the guardians of our nation’s seas who have served ably aboard the Mohawk WMEC-913. The Mohawk’s motto, “Lifesaver, enforcer, and defender,” reflects the array of efforts a cutter’s crew delivers. Nicknamed “the Mighty Mo,” this cutter has rescued thousands of Haitian, Cuban, and Dominican migrants from treacherous waters, enforced alien migrant interdiction, and has performed numerous search and rescue procedures. USCGC Mohawk’s role is vital to Maritime Law Enforcement and Drug Seizure, preventing tons of illegal drugs from entering the United States. This distinctive bronze antique challenge coin uses the Mohawk WMEC 913 patch design on the obverse of this coin, accented in classic red, white, and blue enamel. On the coin’s reverse, the state of Florida and its surrounding waters provide the backdrop for the Mohawk WMEC-913 itself, rendered in colorful enamel, encircled by the Mohawk’s motto and homeport of Key West, Florida. The Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk challenge coin is the ideal tribute to its crews and its mission. Officially Licensed Product of the U.S. Coast Guard Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought: |
