United States Coast Guard Station Southwest Harbor is the oldest of six Maine Coast Guard rescue stations in Sector Northern New England. One of its essential missions is maintaining the U.S. Aids to Navigation System in an area that includes waters vital to the nation’s commercial fishing industry. 

This coin salutes the intrepid men and women who serve the US Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Their tireless work in ensuring the safe navigation of waterways along Maine’s northeastern coastline is integral to the Coast Guard’s mission in the region.
