The United States Coast Guard Base National Capital Region (NCR) directly aids personnel serving at Coast Guard headquarters and throughout the Greater Washington, D.C. area. 

Located in the city’s southwestern quadrant, the base overlooks the Anacostia River. It provides specialized support services to Coast Guard sailors and their families, ranging from education and career development to assistance with managing health care and other benefits. 

This coin honors the commitment of all those who serve Coast Guard Base National Capital Region. It acknowledges their role in furthering the professional effectiveness of Headquarters’ personnel and the execution of Coast Guard missions around the world.
