1990 Eisenhower Uncirculated Silver Dollar

Created to commemorate the birth of Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1890, the Eisenhower Uncirculated Silver Dollar pays tribute to the five-star General who eventually became the 34th President of the United States. Not only did Eisenhower play a key role in the Allied victory in World War II, he also had a remarkable presidency. Under his administration the Interstate Highway System was launched, as well as DARPA, NASA, and the expansion of Social Security.

The silver dollar, minted in 90% silver and containing 0.7734 Troy oz of silver, has a diameter of 38.1mm and a weight of 26.73 grams. The obverse, designed by John Mercanti, includes a right facing portrait of an older Eisenhower superimposed over a left facing view of a younger Eisenhower wearing five stars. The reverse of the coin was designed by Marcel Jovine and depicts Eisenhower’s retirement home in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania which is now part of a national historic site.

Minted in 1990 by the US Mint, this coin is in uncirculated condition and includes the original US Mint packaging with certificate of authenticity. The 1990 Eisenhower Uncirculated Silver Dollar would make a wonderful addition to any US Mint commemorative collection.
