2008 Bald Eagle Uncirculated Clad Half Dollar
The American Bald Eagle is our nation’s proud symbol of strength, freedom, and democracy, and a favorite subject for American coins. In 2008, the US Mint issued this commemorative half-dollar featuring its most majestic living treasure, the Bald Eagle.
Minted in copper-nickel, the coin’s obverse, designed by Donna Weaver, depicts two Bald Eagle chicks in a nest with a soon to be hatched egg. The reverse of the coin, by Susan Gamble, features the Bald Eagle, “Challenger,” famed for his awe-inspiring flights during the US national anthem at major sports events. Challenger is a Bald Eagle raised in captivity that could not safely be returned to the wild after imprinting on humans.
Minted in 2008 by the US Mint, this coin is in like new condition and includes the original US Mint packaging with certificate of authenticity. Purchase the 2008 Bald Eagle Half Dollar as a thoughtful gift for a new collector or as a reminder of our great American heritage.
