2012 United States Mint Limited Edition Silver Proof Coin Set
The 2012 United States Mint Silver Proof Set contains 8 coins in stunning proof quality, displayed in a unique protective lens and presentation case. The 2012-dated coins included in this set are:
One American Eagle Silver Proof Coin. This coin is a collector version of the official United States Mint American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin and bears the “W” mint mark of the United States Mint at West Point. Each American Eagle Silver Proof Coin contains one ounce of .999 fine silver. Featuring the compelling "Walking Liberty" design, originally created by Adolph Weinman for the 1916 U.S. Half Dollar, the reverse bears the heraldic eagle and shield of the Great Seal of the United States. Prized the world over for its universal appeal and assurance of quality, the American Silver Eagle is destined to become a classic.
Five 2012 America the Beautiful Silver Proof Quarters—honoring El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico, Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico, Acadia National Park in Maine, Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii, and Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
The final two coins are one Kennedy half-dollar, and finally one Roosevelt dime.
Unlike circulating coins, proof coins display brilliant backgrounds, with frosted, sculpted foregrounds. Proof coins receive the highest quality strike possible and can be distinguished by their sharpness of detail and brilliant, mirror-like surface. The coins are placed in presentation lenses to showcase and preserve their exceptional finish.
The quarters, half-dollar and dime are struck in 90 percent silver, generally referred to as “coin silver.”
The set comes in proof condition, sealed in a display case as packaged by the U.S. Mint, and includes the certificate of authenticity.
