2008 US Mint American Legacy Collection
Evocative of the United States Mint's Prestige Set from the 80s and 90s, the US Mint created this incredible collection of proof quality coins. There are 15 coins total in the 2008 US Mint American Legacy Collection, representing every coin the US Mint circulated that year.
The American Legacy Collection includes the entire 14 coin 2008 Proof Set, which contains the Lincoln cent, the Jefferson nickel, the Roosevelt dime, Kennedy half-dollar, Sacagawea dollar and all five of the Washington quarter-dollars minted for the 50 State Quarters Program in 2008. The 5 state quarters include Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii, and are minted in the metal composition of Cupro-Nickel clad copper (8.3% Nickel). All 5 quarters share the same Washington obverse.
The 2008 Proof Set featured a new set of coins, the U.S. Mint $1 Presidential four proof coin set. The set includes a proof strike of the James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Martin Van Buren dollars.
The collection also includes the 2008 Bald Eagle Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar. The obverse, designed by Joel Iskowitz, features a bald eagle in flight. The reverse design, by Jim Licaretz, depicts the Great Seal of the United States, used from 1782 to 1841. Minted in 90% silver and containing 0.7734 Troy oz of silver, this beautiful coin has a diameter of 38.1mm and a weight of 26.73 grams.
