Summiteer Hiking Stick Medallion – Charles Mound, Illinois
Charles Mound is the highest natural point in Illinois and only a quarter mile from the Wisconsin border. It lies within the Driftless Area, a region of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin that was not covered or ground down by the last continental glaciers. Elijah Charles, one of the first lasting settlers in the area arrived in 1828, settled at the base of the mound, and the hill assumed his name from there. Minted with an antique bronze finish, and imbued with brown enamel, this medallion depicts a three pronged sign, a fleur-de-lis, and the mount’s elevation of 1,235 feet. The Charles Mound Summiteer Hiking Stick Medallion is a durable and unique reminder of this important achievement on your Scouting® journey. |
