U.S. Army Patch – 1st Infantry Division - Color

The 1st Infantry Division of the United States Army is the oldest division in the United States Army and has seen continuous service since its organization in 1917. It was officially nicknamed the The Big Red One after its shoulder patch and is also nicknamed The Fighting First.

The 1st Infantry Division patch features an olive drab shield with a 90 degree angle pointed base and a red Arabic numeral "1” identifying the Division's designation. The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 1st Division on 31 October 1918, as a red number "1" and amended on 31 March 1927, to include the background of the insignia in the design. It was designated for the 1st Infantry Division on 19 August 1942. The insignia was amended to revise the description on 6 October 1972.

This patch is sold in pairs.
