2014 US Mint America the Beautiful Great Sand Dunes National Park 3-Coin Set

2014 US Mint America the Beautiful Great Sand Dunes National Park 3-Coin Set Part of the US Mint’s popular America the Beautiful quarters series, the 2014 Great Sand Dunes National Park America the Beautiful three-coin set depicts a father and son playing in the sand by Medano Creek, as the dunes and the peaks of the Sangre de Christo Mountains soar in the background.

The set contains two uncirculated Great Sand Dunes National Park quarters - one each from the Philadelphia US Mint and the Denver US Mint, as well as one proof-quality coin from the San Francisco US Mint. Proof-struck coins, commonly referred to as specimen-minted, are the most highly revered of all collectible coins. Coin aficionados devoutly pursue this elite class of coin because of its exceptional numismatic value and unmatched beauty.

This set is an equally ideal gift for fans of America’s national parks – especially Great Sand Dunes National Park – and for beginning coin collectors by displaying the same item from three mints sampled by uncirculated and proof. Each set mounts the coins on a durable plastic card with a description and image of the national park and a Certificate of Authenticity on the back.

In all, there will be up to 56 specially designed numismatic offerings between 2010 and 2021.

Boasting the tallest sand dunes in North America, Great Sand Dunes National Park also offers its visitors a diverse selection of natural wonders. While the sand dunes, some stretching to 750 feet in height, dominate the landscape, many visitors enjoy playing in the meandering Medano Creek or hiking through the large stands of aspen and cottonwood trees. Sledding down or hiking across the giant sand dunes is a common activity, but other features include the Zapata falls and the assorted wildlife that call this incredible national park home.

The other coins dated 2014 will feature:

• Shenandoah National Park in Virginia
• Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee
• Everglades National Park in Florida.
• Arches National Park in Utah
