USCG Station Eatons Neck

Located on Long Island, NY, the United States Coast Guard Station Eaton’s Neck is the oldest Coast Guard Station in New York and the fourth oldest in the United States. It was founded in 1849 by the New York Lifesaving Benevolent Association. The station may have been rebuilt as it was open for services in 1876. It was again listed as an active station in 1937 and remained open until the end of World War II. The Eaton’s Neck Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse on Long Island and the sixth oldest in the United States.

Station Eaton’s Neck guards New York City’s back door maritime entrance, provides assistance to local boaters and stands watch over the middle portion of Long Island Sound from the Port Jefferson-Bridgeport line to just East of New York City.

This coin pays tribute to Station Eaton’s Neck. Minted in bronze and gently brushed with an antique finish, this coin features detailed enameling on the obverse as well as the reverse. Each coin comes packaged with a header card that describes the mission and history of the U.S. Coast Guard.
