Born during the Revolutionary War, the Office of the Inspector General has been an integral part of the U.S. Army's command structure for more than two-hundred years.

Charged with the mission of maintaining order and discipline among officer and enlisted ranks, the Inspector General of the U.S. Army oversees formal investigations of misconduct and manages inspections designed to assess mission performance and overall morale. The Inspector General is also responsible for auditing the Army's top secret intelligence gathering and communications systems to help ensure their compliance with regulations.

This coin salutes the mission of the Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Army to maintain and enforce the highest standards of conduct and performance. The obverse replicates the design and detail of the Inspector General Branch Plaque, which features a crossed sword and fasces inside a wreath of gold. The reverse contains the official seal of the U.S. Army.

Minted in a brass alloy and finished in bronze, this coin is imbued with colorful enamel on both sides. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card that describes the mission and history of the U.S. Army.
